Revitalizing a historic building in a downtown neighborhood

The Central Parkway YMCA was originally built in 1917. The facility sits in the transitional area between downtown Cincinnati and the developing Over-the-Rhine area. The YMCA, 3CDC, and the Model Group hired CR to create a design that would restore the true character of the building and preserve key historical elements. The design features an updated fitness facility that provides better flow and connection between workout stations, the development of the YMCA corporate offices, and the conversion of the YMCA dorms on floors 4-9 into 65 residential units. CR worked closely with the owners to incorporate new ideas and spaces into the historic fabric of the building. This project is estimated to be completed in 2015.
