CR's seven year relationship with the Housing Authority of Newport includes the phased renovation of a high rise apartment building for seniors, an adaptive reuse of an historic church for senior apartments and over one hundred newly constructed scattered single family and duplex residences for both rental and ownership. These projects have necessitated close coordination with various state and local authorities including the Kentucky Housing Corporation, the City of Newport and the State Historic Preservation Office.
For the Hope VI Revitalization Effort, CR worked with the Housing Authority of Newport, the Kentucky Housing Corporation and the State Historic Office of Preservation, CR expanded upon the original Liberty Row I historic style, single-family housing concept and developed nearly 120 units of detached and duplex housing. This housing concept combined rental and home ownership units in an urban density and mix typical of the historic community. Two-story buildings and one-story cottages were used to infill sites throughout the area where condemned structures were removed and large vacant lots were infilled. Off-street parking and green spaces were added in most locations and homes were sites to work with the adjacent residential character and scale.
