A unified design for eight different departments

Completed in 2013, the office space portion of U Square at the Loop was designed for eight departments of the University of Cincinnati. The department offices occupy the second and third floors of the building, atop street level retail space. Each floor of the office contains amenities intended to be shared by all departments, including classroom space and meeting rooms for seminars and events. Designed for LEED for Commercial Interiors certification, the space features abundant natural light. The design team worked with the University of Cincinnati to select low-walled work spaces to allow natural light to fill the office, resulting in less energy usage.

In attempt to design a unified space for eight different departments, CR  worked with the University to understand the culture and mission of each department. These discoveries allowed CR to design separate space for each end user, while simultaneously providing shared spaces that foster a community atmosphere between the departments.
