CR restored this 1904 Queen Anne revival structure back to prominence

This Queen Anne Revival structure, built in 1904, embodied luxury living at the turn of the Twentieth Century. It originally housed 45 spacious apartment units. However, when CR began its renovation, this building was far from luxurious. Fire, collapse, eight years of exposure to the elements, general urban decay and looters all contributed to the building’s ruin, creating unsafe conditions for the project team.

A combination of private and public moneys, including a Community Development Block Grant and funds, tax incentives for historic preservation and local building funds from the City of Cincinnati, ensured the survival of the building’s once sophisticated character. Making a full recovery, this 83-unit, senior apartment complex has become the cornerstone of revitalization efforts in Cincinnati’s first tier neighborhood of Walnut Hills. It features one and two-bedroom apartments, laundry facilities, a community center, nurse station, computer-learning center and landscaped gardens.
