Phase 1A of this mixed-use community was completed in the summer of 2011. CR served as the Architect of Record on the project, designing 300 market rate apartments, over 70,000-sf of ground level retail space and structured parking. CR's vision of designing a mixed-use development that was vibrant, connected and unique was transformed to define this new urban community located between two professional sports stadiums on the banks of the Ohio River. The development spans two city blocks and creates a natural transition from downtown to the riverfront and provides a walkable community with an active sense of neighborhood.
The residential portion of this development, Current at the Banks, is certified LEED for Homes and includes apartments featuring contemporary kitchens, open floor plans, expansive balconies that offer panoramic views of the city or river, and ample parking. The Block 16 building defines the south face of Freedom Way and extends toward the new Smale Riverfront Park and the Roebling Suspension Bridge. The Block 26 building anchors the northeast corner of the entire development, facing downtown Cincinnati.
