Discovery
Center at 600 Vine lives at the heart of downtown Cincinnati one block up from Fountain Square where 6th Street meets Vine. Blocks away from most areas of downtown, the building is the nucleus of Cincinnati’s business district and is home to many of the city’s largest corporate tenants, including our very own CR headquarters. The first-floor lobby serves as the initial welcome to those coming in from street level and the parking garage below, both tenant employees and clients alike. Two partial renovations have been performed since the building’s completion in 1984, but a full facelift was in order to represent the Center’s commitment to high quality service.
Creation
Provided with a basic concept sketch, the team was tasked with bringing it to life. Our designers brought the lobby, elevator cabs and Nexus tenant common space into the modern era, influencing the design through material, finish and furniture choices. The three-story columns were clad in dark wood paneling with intermittent vertical LED lighting revealing warm metal accents, drawing the eye upward. Wood paneling extends throughout the space and complements quartz countertop, modern white lighting fixtures and geometric, faceted wall panels. Two large paintings were commissioned to highlight the double banks of elevators with color and texture, one representing sunrise over the Queen City and the other representing sunset. Approachable and versatile furnishings provide space for visitors and tenants to wait, take a call or simply relax.
